Tranquillity
£115
Lou Longworth is a self-taught expressive abstract painter based in Hertfordshire. Her work is a colourful journey inspired by nature and our emotional connection to the natural world, celebrating the calm, joy and quiet magic found outdoors.
Growing up with a deep love of nature, Lou continues to draw endless inspiration from the flowers, trees, leaves and landscapes around her. Rather than aiming for realistic representation, she focuses on capturing how these natural spaces feel – the freedom, tranquillity and bursts of happiness they bring to us.
Working predominantly with acrylics and occasionally incorporating collage, watercolour, pencil or ink, Lou paints intuitively, building her pieces layer by layer to create texture and depth. She is fascinated by the process of obscuring, scraping back and revealing details, allowing each painting to evolve naturally.
Through her expressive abstract work, Lou hopes to share her appreciation of nature’s beauty, creating art that lifts the mood, brings warmth to a space, and gently reminds us of the loveliness that already surrounds us.
