Still Life with Brushes

David Weekes is a figurative artist based in South East London. He studied at The Heatherley School of Fine Art. Painting and drawing have been compulsive activities for him since he was a child. He enjoys analysing the world around him, and then expressing his interpretations in his own style; a style that conveys both boldness and clarity. From the first stab of a loaded brush on canvas, or the first sweep of charcoal or graphite across paper, he begins to connect with the object or person in front of him. He works from observation and his subject matter is broad. Landscape, portrait, still life: each genre presents an opportunity for him to reach a deeper understanding of his subject and reveal a truth about it that he hopes an audience can connect with.
