Red Rolling Hills


Brenda Hurley is a painter and novelist and has lived in Tring, Hertfordshire since 1978. She started her career in the dress industry after studying dress design NDD at the Bradford Art College, Yorkshire. She opened her own company ‘Flairwear Ltd’ in 1964 selling her clothes to mail order companies. In 1980 after moving from the north of England she pursued new horizons in art, gaining a distinction in B.H.D.A.D at the High Wycombe College, Bucks. In 1984 she started exhibiting art and teaching workshops at the Queens Park Centre in Aylesbury. She regards herself as a colourist who loves seeing patterns in the landscape and also the history of forgotten footsteps in the fields.

In 2018 she published her first novel ‘Ghostly Embrace’ a fantasy love story. The sequel ‘Ghostly Return’ is to be published in January in 2022. Narratives and telling stories in paint or words is life’s blood to her creative nature.
