The late Scottish Colourist John Nelson (1933-2013) attended Edinburgh College of Art as a mature student being accepted on the basis of his portfolio work only. He became Art Lecturer at the new Stevenson Further Education College and was instrumental in setting up their Arts and Crafts department. One of his many achievements, of which he was proud, was as an Edinburgh man to become a member of and a chairman of Glasgow League of Artists.
