Gillian R. Western was born in North London but since 2014 has lived in Rugby.
From an early age she was fascinated by drawing and painting, and at school won several prizes for art, which she passed at A Level, greatly encouraged by her Art teacher, the late Marion Rhodes, R.A.
She also attended an art course at the then Hornsey Art School, and intended to make painting her career. However, her life then took off in various other directions, and it was only in 2005 that she was able to return to her original love, by portraying in watercolour some of the beautiful, amazing and dramatic sights that caught her keen eye during her many travels around the world and in this country. She has exhibited widely in London and the Home Counties, and more recently in Warwickshire.
