Philip Hearsey left Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and for more than thirty years was involved with construction, interiors, furniture, design and architecture. That is all behind him and he now devotes hid life to making sculpture.

As a sculptor he is self-taught and specialises in sandcasting to make pieces which engage the quality of bronze as a noble material in its own right.  Whilst this is his primary focus he also works in wood, iron, painted finishes and other materials..

His sculpture is generally domestic in scale and intended for the interiors of homes, offices, hotels and yachts.

He lives and works on the edge of Herefordshire beside the Black Mountains of Wales.  He is heavily influence by the natural environment.

What is in his head when he makes work is very private and every piece has a meaning that is completely personal.

When a work leaves his studio it takes on a different life and the collector will convey his or her own relevance and energy to take full ownership and form a new bond with the sculpture.
