Looking to Merchants Quay and Prince Street Bridge, Bristol
Ian Fifield is a self taught artist working in oil paints on acrylic primed cotton duck or linen canvases on contemporary subjects varying from coastal and landscape to architectural and wildlife subjects; painting in his studio from his own photos and colour notes as reference.
Much of the past work being architectural decided in 2001 that he must go to Venice to photograph as much material as possible to paint and get a feel of its mood and atmosphere. Also in February 2020 went out to Kenya to photograph wildlife to pursue his past interest in painting animals. Recently having moved to Somerset, from London, much of his work is now based on the landscape and coastal areas of the West Country.
